Microblading Before & After Care

Before Your Procedure

The procedure area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated. Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure.

  • Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before the procedure
  • Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face/skin
  • Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to treatment
  • Do not work out the day of the procedure.
  • Do not have botox 3 weeks prior
  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)
  • Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days before the procedure.

In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit:

  • Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo
  • Do not consume coffee or any caffeine before your procedure
  • Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AND AFTER YOUR EYEBROW SESSION

The entire healing process will take from 4-6 weeks depending on your body regeneration and age. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle.

The pigment will appear very unnatural looking immediately after the procedure. The color of the pigment will appear much darker the next day.

Note that because of natural skin regeneration, after recovery period (peeling), brows might appear lighter than the original. This might give you the impression that color is fading too quickly. Often even with proper care, clients may have more fading in some areas which make the brows look uneven. It is absolutely normal. That's the reason why most clients need a touchup after 6 weeks.

Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. However, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows.  The final look of your eyebrows will be apparent approximately 30 days after your procedure.

Never rub the treated area as it will disturb the skin from natural healing.

Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun.  Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly.

When using foundation, avoid the area of your healed eyebrows. If foundation covers healed brows, your eyebrows will appear lighter.

*Itching and flaking may occur but DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT THEM, this is very important. Picking and scratching could cause chunks of pigment to be removed, therefore leaving bald spots. Gently use a cotton swab with post-care ointment to relive the itch, ensuring they heal properly.

*The healing of deeper wounds (usually the beginning of the brow) might last between 14-21 days.

*Your treatment area will change during your healing period. They usually look much darker straight after your session. You will lose 30-50% of your color intensity, therefore a touch-up appointment is necessary.

*The entire healing process of your treated area will take something from 6 to 8 weeks depending on your metabolism and healthy life style.

*Additional treatments cannot be undertaken until the area has completely healed. A 4/6 week healing time is required before any more work can be undertaken.

*Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away much faster than desired.

Note that often, even with proper care, customers develop bald spots or loose original hair strokes which makes brows look uneven. It is absolutely normal because your natural skin regeneration is not a process that your Microblading Artist can control. That’s why most customers need a touch up after 1 month to assure that the brows are perfectly even and desired effect was achieved. In some cases, a third or fourth touch up is needed.

You can now enjoy your beautiful new eyebrows. You will simply love your new gorgeous fresh look!

Aftercare

DAY 1:

Within 3 hours of your Microblading appointment, wash your hands and wipe your new brows with a clean cotton pad and distillate water. Do not use tap water as it does contain many living organism and bacteria which can actually cause post treatment infection. The best is to use distillate, mineral or sterile water. (If you do not have any of these, you can boil water in your kettle and let it cool down before you use it) After gently wiping, pat them dry or air dry. Apply a very thin layer of your given ointment.

DAYS 2-10:

DO NOT GET YOUR BROWS WET. Keep them as dry as possible and continue to apply A&D ointment as needed for 10 days straight until scabs/flakiness starts to fall off naturally. Always wash your hands before applying ointment or use a clean cotton tip to gently apply to avoid infection during the healing phase. Make sure you apply a very THIN layer as needed, meaning when your brows start to feel tight.  You must keep them lightly moisturized to prevent the skin from cracking, but not saturated

Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 7 days after your procedure.

Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. During the shower, keep your face away from the shower head or take a bath.

Itching and flaking may appear during the first seven days post procedure. Avoid picking or scratching as it can pull off scabs prematurely and cause patchy results or scarring. However, experience has shown that by following these after-care instructions, these symptoms may quickly disappear.

After 4 days, make sure your hands are completely clean and gently apply the post-care ointment with a cotton swab and clean hands. This can be done twice a day, at night time and morning time, but be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. Please continue to apply the ointment for 7 days.

The following must be avoided during all 14 days post procedure:

  • Increased sweating
  • Practicing sports
  • Swimming
  • Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
  • Sun tanning or salon tanning
  • Exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading
  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
  • Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris
  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
  • Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
  • Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream with a cotton swab
